To offer a customized experience for you and your family, we offer a three-step process. First, we'll have an initial consultation in person or over the phone where we'll discuss your vision for the final product. From a gorgeous Fine Art Album or Acrylic Wall Art over the fireplace, we're strong believers in the power of print. Second is the shoot itself; here, you will enjoy a stress-free session. Everything we discussed at the consultation will come to fruition, from the clothes you wear to the poses we capture. Finally, you will be invited back to our studio one to two weeks after your session to view your final gallery of 20-30 beautifully retouched and fully edited images. Here you decide which prints or digital packages you may want to purchase.

Walnut Creek Family Photography: Expert Tips for a Picture-Perfect Photo Session

We understand the importance of capturing your family's special moments, and our experienced photographers are here to guide you through the process. Below, we'll address common questions about family photography to help you prepare for a successful and memorable photo session.

What Age (for Children) is Best for Family Photos?

There is no "perfect" age for children in family photos, as every stage of their growth offers unique and heartwarming memories. From the early days of infancy to the proud milestones of childhood, Milk + Lily Portrait Co. is here to capture your family's journey with timeless and beautiful images.

What to Wear for a Family Photo Session?

When choosing outfits for a family photo session, consider coordinating colors and styles that complement each other. Neutral tones, solid colors, and simple patterns work well for a cohesive look. Avoid clothing with large logos or busy patterns, as these can be distracting in the final images.

What Color Backdrop is Best for Family Photos?

The ideal backdrop color for your family photos depends on your personal preferences and the style of your session. Classic options like white, gray, and beige work well with most outfits and create a timeless, elegant look. Alternatively, you can choose a backdrop color that complements your family's clothing or reflects your unique personality.

What Colors Not to Wear in Family Photos?

When selecting clothing for your family photos, avoid overly bright or neon colors, as these can be distracting and may not photograph well. Additionally, try to steer clear of colors that clash with your chosen setting, as this can detract from the overall harmony of the image.

How Do I Display Family Photos?

There are countless ways to showcase your cherished family photos, from creating a gallery wall with framed prints to designing custom photo albums. Other popular options include canvas prints, metal prints, or acrylic blocks. Our team at Milk + Lily Portrait Co. can help guide you in choosing the perfect display options for your home and personal style.
